Sometimes your camera misses the mark.

Tom Hussey liked everything about this photo; except it was a little soft. I was able to blend in some sharp pieces from a couple different frame in this series. Then I did some basic skin retouching and Tom added a bit of color and contrast.

Here is the original photo next to the final image.

The West coast sounds pretty good right about, now.

This started out as Tom Hussey’s favorite capture from a recent set of photos taken in LA, but he wanted the entire surfboard in the frame. Once I reconstructed the nose of the board from another image shot during this series, I got rid of a few distracting details. Tom Hussey and the crew had one surfboard for multiple set ups so I changed the color of the board, too. Tom added a little punch and it was off to print.

Here is the original photo and the final image:

A little breezy out there?

This is the exact shot Tom Hussey was looking for but the wind didn’t cooperate with this frame. I was able to find another image from the same series of shots with a close enough face to make this image work. I created the composite image and did some minor skin retouching, as well as, removed a few distracting elements from the background. Once I finished up, Tom Hussey applied his signature style.

Sometimes things line up perfectly ..almost.

ELC Imagemaking is really digging Tom Hussey’s new work. For this image I was able to use a variety of different shots from a series of photos taken during this scenario to help create one composite. Then I retouched out all of the distracting elements and Tom Hussey applied his signature style.

How to Contain All of Your Screenshots

Too many files end up lingering on my desktop until I have a spare moment to sort through it all. I take screenshots all the time for a variety of reasons. The other day I was searching around and found the solution to all my problems…

Follow these instructions to change the location of where your ‘Screenshots’ get saved:

- First, create a folder in your user directory (where you would usually find “Pictures” “Documents” “Downloads” etc) named “Screenshots.” It should look something like this:

image

- Open Terminal and type in the following:

image

- When you’re finished typing press the ‘return’ key

- Now, type in the following:

image

and press the ‘return’ key.

All set! Now each Screenshot you take will be saved to this folder from now on. I like to take an extra step and move that “Screenshots” folder in to my ‘Favorites’ for easy access.

ELC Imagemaking has been doing a lot of retouching for Tom Hussey lately. Here is one of our favorites from several choices, which we will be displaying over the next couple of weeks.

For this image I was able to use some of the hair from a different photo to make this image more dynamic. Then I did some minor skin retouching and Tom handled the color and motion blur.
